Conveniently situated in Manchester, Josh brings over three-years solid experience in M&E recruitment. And having worked on the consultancy side of Building Services, Design and also Facilities Management – he is able to offer a thorough understanding of the whole Design, Build, Operate & Manage (DBOM) process.

In his spare time, newly-married, Josh is Captain of a local football team and when he’s not on the pitch, you’ll find him and his acoustic guitar on stage in Manchester. A singer/song writer since he was 11-years-old, Josh is proud of his city’s underground music scene and often plays solo gigs when he’s not working.

Job Description

 

Guyan & Associates currently have a requirement for a Managing Quantity Surveyor, to work for a national contractor, out of their North West head office: You will be responsible for numerous schemes, as well as a £40mil flagship scheme the business is currently undertaking. 

You will have a degree in quantity surveying, excellent contractual knowledge and a proven track record of delivery within a commercial environment.  Ideally looking for someone from a tier 1 MEP contracting background, but also open to speaking with individuals from a Principle Contracting background with a solid understanding of engineering/construction projects.  There will be elements of travel to the role, but you will rarely be required to stay away overnight.  Attractive salary/package on offer for the right individual.  Please get in touch for a confidential discussion

About This Role

 

 

As the Managing Surveyor your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Measuring and describing M&E and / or building and / or civil engineering construction work including the preparation of tender documentation and negotiation with contractor sparing and using detailed budgets and cost plans
  • Preparing and interpreting turnover / cash flow projections and profit / loss forecasts
  • Undertaking the valuing of variations and potential variations
  • Preparing interim applications for payment preparation and presentation of financial control / WIP documentation
  • The preparation and agreement of final accounts
  • Management and control of major projects within the construction and related industries
  • Deal with significant contractual issues including extensions of time, loss and or expense claims, terms and conditions etc
  • Achievement of personal fee billing target
  • Manage and develop subordinates to a designated fee billing target (dependent on team)
  • Generate new business opportunities for the organisation through marketing and retaining clients, in conjunction with management support and direction
