Senior M&E Design Manager

You will support the business technically by highlighting opportunity and minimising risk by providing M&E/Building Services Technical policy, review, education and support at a level which takes account of unit capabilities.

Assisting the Design Leader in providing M&E Technical and design support to the company's London & South East business units in appropriate Building Services discipline(s) and specialisation(s).

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide M&E Design & Technical support to the business units to successfully achieve company, team and individual         goals and objectives relating to the delivery of design & technical practices and processes, liaising with the Design Leader   to achieve overall company objectives

• Be fully conversant with functional and company method statements, associated guidance manuals and technical standards / regulations relevant to the design, health safety & environmental and technical engineering needs of the company and assist in development of same

• Technically support the management of all M&E Design work undertaken throughout the company (both in-house &              subcontracted), in collaboration with the project delivery teams, ensuring Professional Services Consultant appointments    are defined and agreed, with regard to capability, capacity, scope, price & programme.

• Assist in the effective implementation of technical risk management by ensuring that project engineering proposals for         designs, installations, equipment & plant, meet the criteria of allowable; installable; maintainable & affordable and ensure     that M&E technical reviews are conducted where identified as necessary

• Provide process & technical, assistance, education & advice to company personnel as required to assist in the                     achievement of company engineering excellence

• Assist the M&E Design Leader to develop competency criteria for key technical roles within the business, together with       best practice processes for design management & technical engineering activities

• Assist the Design Leader to maintain appropriate standards of technical staff within business units by assisting in effective   recruitment processes

• Display a flexible approach to visiting locations and sites throughout the UK in order to assist project teams with M&E           technical and design related issues and to promote company standardisation of approach to design and technical matters

• Deliver appropriate training courses as required. This includes the effective design, delivery and evaluation of all training     provided

• Provide technical advice / assistance to queries raised by business units and sister companies where appropriate

• Participate in the assessment of competence and performance monitoring of M&E Designers and Design                             Consultants / Contractors

• Assist the business to expand and develop its technical capabilities by providing support to work winning colleagues

• Represent the company on industry bodies / forums when required

• Provide appropriate advice and recommendations to senior management on current and forthcoming legislative changes

• Actively pursue and investigate new technologies, systems and products that may lead to the company operating more       effectively and efficiently

• Maintain highest levels of confidentiality in all aspects of employment

Qualifications / Education and / or Experience:

• Preferably educated to bachelor’s degree level or above

• Previous management / people development experience would be useful, as would working within a M&E/Building               Services environment

• Must have superior knowledge of technical skills requirements, and possess excellent communication skills together with     a common sense and flexible approach
