Senior Estimator

Job Description

 

Lead M&E estimator / QS working in a multi-discipline team in the capacity as the owners’ representative for a leading technology client. The successful candidate will be technical lead of a dedicated Estimating / QS team supporting an exciting fast paced programme of large scale technology projects.
 
Education / Experience:
·         Minimum of 10 years’ experience as either an Electrical or Mechanical Estimator or Quantity Surveyor
·         Experience within a technology driven industry is favourable e.g. Semi-Conductor, Pharmaceutical, Data Centers, Life Sciences, Medical Facilities etc
·         Expert knowledge of either Mechanical or Electrical systems
·         Degree qualifications preferred
·         Member of a Professional Institute preferred
 
Skills / Qualifications:
·         Strong understanding of Mechanical and Electrical labour units and productivity
·         Advanced skills with spreadsheets and report writing
·         Experience with cloud based software desirable
·         Strong and professional communication skills
·         Self-motivated and proactive
·         Experience with or knowledge of Primavera P6 advantageous
·         Good organisation skills, ability to multi-task, and be a team player
·         Experience with computer based estimating software e.g. on screen take off
·         Use of BIM for quantification or coordination is desirable
 
Key Elements:
·         Can identify the factors that influence construction costs, suggest alternatives and monitor and report on this data
·         Proven ability of producing and or managing accurate estimates
·         Able to successfully negotiate estimates and change orders with contractors
·         Good knowledge of - and experience with - all methods of construction procurement
·         Review, validate and audit cost estimates prepared by contractors and others within a client’s organisation
·         Benchmarking for validation and target-setting
·         Provide cost support to new innovative Research and Development engineering solutions
·         Provide cost input into value engineering solutions
·         Maintain central feedback and learning on cost estimating from prospects and projects and contribute to updating of “Best Practices” in estimating
